Aluminium 2017 comprises about 91.5% aluminium, 4% copper, 0.7% manganese, and 0.5% magnesium. This heat-treatable alloy provides high tensile strength (390–500 MPa), moderate ductility, and good machinability. The yield strength is around 260 MPa, and the alloy performs well under high mechanical loads. Although it has lower corrosion resistance, it can be coated or anodized. It maintains structural integrity after forging, making it suitable for precision parts.
