Aluminium 2024 consists of about 90.7% aluminium, 4.4% copper, 1.5% magnesium, and 0.6% manganese. In the appropriate temper, it provides tensile strength up to 470 MPa and yield strength around 325 MPa. The alloy has excellent fatigue resistance, good machinability, and can be heat-treated. Although it has less corrosion resistance, it performs well when coated or anodized. It is ideal for parts exposed to repetitive stress and vibration.
